As per Unilever's website, the history of their cleaning brand Domestos It was in 1925, in Newcastle - Tyne & Wear, that William Handley a 29 year old dental technician invented and sold the cleaning solution door to door in jars!

Slugbusters also has its humble beginnings in Dunston, Tyne & Wear. Andy Bloomfield, a mechanical engineer and a keen gardener, faced the problem of slugs damaging his garden plants. Combining his unfaltering energy to experiment, his engineering skills and ecology-awareness, Andy arrived at Slugbusters.

Like most products out of a garden shed, Andy first got his neighbours, other hobbyist gardeners, fellow allotment holders and commercial gardeners to try Slugbusters. Andy has several inventions to his credit (pending patent)
